Winter River – Digital Asset

DIGITAL – This is Quebec in January, painted with love. A river winds through a snow-blanketed landscape, the rocks and trees rendered in Monique Paré’s signature bold outlines and flat planes of colour — an approach that nods to the great tradition of Canadian landscape painting while remaining entirely her own.

The sky is the heart of it: that band of burning gold along the horizon that anyone who has watched a winter sunset in the Laurentians will recognize instantly. Deep blues, crisp whites, flashes of red and green — the painting hums with cold, clean air and the particular silence of a snowy afternoon.

A deeply Canadian work, and a deeply personal one. Painted from her Saint-Sauveur studio, looking out at the mountains she calls home.
