Two mediums.
One cohesive work.

You may have been told that oil and acrylic cannot be used together. That rule is both true and widely misunderstood. This class untangles the myth, explains the real chemistry, and shows you exactly how to use both mediums together — not as a workaround, but as a genuine expansion of your practice.

Whether you're an acrylic painter drawn to the luminosity of oils, or an oil painter looking for a faster, more decisive underpainting process — this class gives you both the theory and the practical technique to paint with confidence.

"Acrylic first. Oil on top. Never the reverse. If you internalize this one principle, everything else will make sense." — Monique Paré

Six sections.
Complete technique.

From understanding the science to varnishing the finished painting — every stage of the mixed media process, clearly taught.

Teaching painting
from the inside out

Monique Paré is a painter and teacher whose work spans oil, acrylic, and mixed media. Her approach to teaching is grounded in one belief: that understanding why something works gives you far more freedom than simply following instructions.

This class grew out of years of mixed media practice and the questions she heard most often from her students — the same painters who had been told the two mediums couldn't be used together, and who had been missing out on everything that combination makes possible.

Common questions

What level is this class for?

The class is suitable for painters who already have some experience with either oil or acrylic paint. You don't need to be proficient in both — the class is designed for painters moving from one medium into the other, as well as those who want to use them together for the first time.

What materials do I need to follow along?

The class covers material selection in detail, but to follow along you'll want a basic acrylic palette, an oil palette with at least a few transparent and opaque colors, a primed canvas or panel, and standard oil mediums (linseed oil and a solvent). The companion slide deck includes a material reference list.

What's included in the slide deck?

The PDF slide deck is the complete presentation used in the class — color theory diagrams, the optical mixing illustrations, a material and medium reference, the layering order guide, and varnish selection charts. It's designed to be useful at the easel as you paint.

How do I receive the class and slide deck?

Both files are delivered as an instant digital download immediately after purchase. You'll receive an email with your download link. The class is a book file; the slide deck is a PDF.

Is there a refund policy?

Yes. If you work through the class and don't feel it delivered value, contact Monique within 30 days of purchase for a full refund. No complicated process required.
