SOLD – In Silent Canal, Monique Paré invites the viewer to step into the prow of a narrow wooden boat and glide forward — unhurried — through a tunnel of swaying palms and dappled jungle light.
The composition is intimate and immersive. We are not observers on a bank; we are passengers. A lone boatwoman in a turquoise áo bà ba and a woven nón lá hat sits just ahead of us, her back turned, her attention fixed on the narrow green corridor stretching ahead. A weathered footbridge spans the canal in the distance, and the faintest suggestion of a riverside dwelling flickers through the foliage.
Technique and palette
Paré’s brushwork is loose yet deliberate. The water ripples in strokes of teal and brown, the palms rendered in gestural sweeps of deep green and grey that evoke heat, humidity, and the hush of a slow-moving afternoon. The warm glow caught beneath the canopy lends the painting a quiet luminosity, as if sunlight itself is trying to stay still. Acrylic on canvas allows for bold layering and a richness of texture that gives the scene both depth and immediacy.
What it brings to a space
Silent Canal is a meditation on slowness and presence. It suits spaces where calm is the intention — a living room, a reading corner, a bedroom, or any wall that deserves more than decoration. The green and earthy palette adapts warmly to both natural wood tones and contemporary interiors. Shipping is calculated seperately.
